A lot of my role involves getting customers up to speed in the most efficient manner. This means looking at common process pains and streamlining these. I’ve found an issue that customers encounter when changing any system is effectively preparing and transferring data. At Cin7 we make it easy to do this and the team are experts at working with all kinds of data sets.
There are some obvious things that customers should be aware of before they begin. I believe that data quality and how data is formatted is vital to having a healthy system in the future. Spending the time getting it right first time, will mean that only clean data gets pushed over. That’s really important to a healthy system and critical for those operating e-commerce platforms. The last thing a business want’s is to import wrong pricing information!

This week I’ve talked a lot about pricing. Understanding the customer’s logic when choosing one system over another and how they get to that point is really interesting to me. Most of our customers see real value in our pricing compared to other platforms, because we offer a complete solution. In one example, we found a customer using a competing system, but all their processes were disconnected. For the customer, it meant a lot of work around – which is time consuming.
When I showed them Cin7, they were amazed at what our system offered compared to other products out there on the market. Despite the positivity, one of the biggest barriers was of course pricing compared to their current system. The more I talked to them, the more I realised that because their current inventory model included a lot of disparate systems – it cost far more than the overall cost of Cin7. Once they realised this, they immediately saw the long term benefit in switching inventory system. This is the case with many customers and it can be hard relaying the importance of choosing the right system, first time round.
It seems that businesses in Australia and New Zealand are getting to the point where they have outgrown their inventory providers. But there’s nothing really out there that sits between a basic inventory system and a customised ERP. That’s why I think so many people are switching over to us, because they see the long term benefits.
