Meet the Cin7 staff, learn a little bit about them and hear what inspires them.
Daniel Jordan – Production Manager
One of the interesting parts to my job, is listening to our customer’s and the problems that they face. Now, there are always different ways in operating businesses and there is no right way, but in some examples there are obvious efficiency opportunities that we notice.
For example, I was talking to a customer the other day that performed stock takes on a weekly basis. This seemed rather time consuming to perform a stock take every week. I estimated, that well, if it took an hour for a staff member to count all the products in the store and assuming the staff member were paid minimum wage. Across all the stores, there was a potential for this customer to save over $15,000 a year – simply by performing a stock take every couple of months.
Once I heard that, I realised that’s probably why people love Cin7 so much – because that’s what inventory software is for. In theory, business should keep ticking over while you have visibility over your stock level. It’s always good to hear customers are trying out new things and changing their business for the better.
Rory Moss – Online Marketing Manager
I’ve recently started as the Online Marketing Manager at Cin7 and I can honestly say it’s an exciting time to be a part of this growing company. Looking at just how much our customer’s value the product and our ratings online compared to competitors – it’s obvious we’re on to a winner.
As a brief introduction about me, I’ve primarily worked in Finance and Insurance at Toyota Finance, but I’ve also had experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Retail and Process Management. How this relates to inventory and POS I guess is that there’s a common trend to success in all industries. First off, it’s understanding your customers. Secondly, it’s ensuring you have the right process in the background to meet their demands. That means effectively managing your product, price, where you sell and how you sell. That’s probably how I landed up in Marketing, because I’m fascinated about how people buy.
That fascination was instilled at a pretty young age. My whole family is in business. My old man manages one the oldest New Zealand retail brands (ParaRubber) and my sister is the brand manager at Clorox. So you could say we have some pretty heated debates during family dinners.
In terms of where I think Cin7 is heading, it’s looking like a pretty bright future. We’ve been hard at work, setting up some marketing fundamentals. Unlike our competitors, it seems they’ve been focusing on their marketing and lead generation efforts, whereas Danny and the team have been focusing on building a product that the market actually wants. Customer product ratings really prove my point. People will likely question that statement so take a read for yourself!
